Kindergarten Enrichment Summer Camp – Details

 

Letters and numbers can seem daunting at first for a young child, so Kindergarten Summer Camp utilizes games to engage and enrich a child’s learning experience through having fun. One favorite of kids is Zoo-Phonics®. Phonics is the learning of letters and words through sound, and it’s taught using a cast of zoo animals. Letters come alive as the children learn to recognize and match them with sounds, then write them with ease. Other proven programs integrated into the camp include Social Thinking® (Attributed to Michelle Garcia Winner as creator of the Social Thinking Methodology) and Handwriting Without Tears®.
Kindergarten Readiness Camp is designed to introduce and help your child become comfortable learning and working within the new expectations kindergarten will present. It’s done in a fun and exciting way that is tailored to meet each child’s individual learning style and level.

Multiple week enrolls and those who bring a friend may be eligible for special discounts, so be sure to inquire when you call.

Each week-long session will teach kids to:

• Recognize letters and match them with a name and sound using Zoo-Phonics
• Learn how to correctly form upper case letters (and lower case letters if they show an interest) using the Handwriting Without Tears program
• Master holding a pencil, marker or crayon and handwriting skills
• Develop attention and listening skills
• Enrich problem-solving skills to boost self-efficacy and independence
• Build social & communication skills through games and activities
• Build math skills – counting, simple addition, sorting
• Promote body awareness through creative play and movement
• Begin their love for learning

Program Details

Dates: Session 1:  July 18 – July 22, 2016

Session 2:  July 25 – July 29, 2016

Session 3: August 1 – August 5, 2016

Times: 8:45 a.m. – 1 p.m., Monday through Friday

Age: Starting kindergarten in the Fall
