I can’t say enough about K-Camp. My daughter attended K-Camp for two weeks and it gave her exposure to early literacy and numeracy, as well as provided a structured day that really prepared her for the kindergarten transition. As a parent, it gave me peace of mind that she would be ready to take the next steps.

The Child Success Center is the place. A comprehensive understanding of a child’s development is especially important to me when I am making a referral. I am interested in an open-minded approach that allows for knowledge beyond ones’ specific area of expertise. The Child Success Center professionals are able to work across domains and to provide a comprehensive team approach that enables the child to build skills in order to succeed in their development. I have seen first-hand occupational therapists and speech and language pathologists working together to help a child maximize their potential. Their ‘whole child’ approach is one that allows a child to not only succeed, but to internalize a positive sense of self.

For several years, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Melissa Idelson, founder and director of the Child Success Center. Melissa and her incredibly skilled and dedicated staff have supported the Crossroads Elementary School in innumerable ways. Our school families and faculty have reaped the enormous benefits of our successful collaborations.

Hallmarks of the partnership include competently crafted assessments, highly effective ongoing communication with teachers and administrators, generous parent consultations and access to fine occupational, educational and speech and language therapists. Additionally, Melissa Idelson has personally led parent education presentations at the school to provide valuable tools and strategies for parents.

In the past year, the Child Success Center has moved and grown and opened new possibilities for students at our school. The Center established its first non-profit foundation offering several qualifying students free and reduced-fee services. Melissa’s philanthropic spirit spearheaded this endeavor. Her fantastic therapists earnestly contributed to the community spirit of supporting these students and families.

As a school administrator, I could not feel more satisfied and assured that our students are being carefully seen and served. I wholeheartedly commend Melissa and her wonderful practitioners for the very important work that they do.

Owen loved the camp. We feel very fortunate that we found this class. Owen got a lot out of it. He still does not know all of his letters but seems much more prepared for kindergarten in a few weeks. He loved everything about camp. If I had another child I would send them back there. I will definitely recommend this camp to all my friends. Owen learned what kindergarten is going to be like. He loved the teacher. His favorite thing about camp was meeting his new friend Oliver. He is now recognizing letters in our world (street signs, etc.).

So nice to hear from you during the holidays! Just wanted to thank you again for all the terrific assistance you gave Will over the years. He’s doing great in 1st grade in our new school in San Diego. We of course miss seeing you all, but the move has been very good for all of us.

The Child Success Center is the first place we refer children with any sensory, ADD or autism spectrum disorders for help. The center offers thorough, individualized assessments and multidisciplinary treatment options for children. Rather than parents having to run all over town for the various modalities they need for their children, they have everyone needed under one roof at the Center. Melissa and her team have had years of experience and offer compassion, knowledge and complete dedication to each of their families.

Just wanted to touch bases and say thank you. Yesterday was such a great hour when you were working with my 3 year old son. Watching you work with him was wonderful and I saw such a great response and connection. The whole process of reaching out for help is quite daunting as a parent and I am sure you felt my anxiety and protectiveness the first couple of sessions.

He also loves coming and that makes it so much easier. I am trying to implement your techiques, and I am sure I will get better, but you definitely make it look much easier than it is! Again thank you and looking forward to helping my son mature through this process.

My son had the best week at the Kindergarten Readiness Camp with Shelby. He is starting Kindergarten in September after completing a year of TK so it was the perfect refresher midway through summer. The camp focused on academics but also social interaction, self-regulating, transitioning and much more. My son said they played fun games and he loved taking breaks and playing in the gym. For a boy who doesn’t love doing table work he said it was the best camp! I could not be happier.
