Meet Our Director and Leader

Melissa Idelson, founder and director of Child Success Center, brings a unique blend of personal insight and professional expertise to child development. Having experienced learning difficulties as a child and now guiding her own children, Melissa intimately understands the challenges faced by both children and parents. Her professional journey began in 1990 as an occupational therapist in Perth, Australia. Driven by a passion for understanding sensory integration, she relocated to California in 1995 to pursue graduate studies in Ayres Sensory Integration at USC, which became a cornerstone of her innovative approach.

In 2004, Melissa's vision of a multidisciplinary haven where children could learn and grow through play experiences came to life with the founding of Child Success Center. The center brings together passionate therapists who collaborate to treat the "whole child" in a state-of-the-art facility equipped with sensory motor gym equipment. Melissa places great importance on matching each child to the right therapist(s), and maintains intimate involvement in the management of each family's unique case. Her 34 years of experience has also been shared via special training sessions for schools and teachers, providing understanding of the whole child and how to support them in everyday settings.

Melissa's commitment to accessible care led to the establishment of the Child Success Foundation in 2007, providing funding for families unable to afford vital therapy services. Her ongoing pursuit of education within and beyond occupational therapy enhances her expertise as a developmental specialist. This unique approach created an environment where children's strengths are celebrated alongside their challenges. As a visionary in the field, Melissa's impact extends far beyond the center's walls. Her combination of personal experience, professional expertise, and unwavering dedication has transformed countless lives, creating a model for comprehensive, compassionate care that continues to evolve and inspire.
