Reading Club
Reading should be fun! If your school-aged child is struggling with reading, Child Success Center offers an effective and fun and program to help him this summer. The Summer Reading Club will help children better understand how sounds and letters are connected to create words and how words communicate thoughts through reading and writing. These connections will improve your child’s ability to learn and read. Child Success Center’s team of highly-trained, qualified Educational Therapists use a multi-sensory approach to focus on key areas of development:
- Phonemic awareness – Awareness of individual sounds in spoken words
- Phonics knowledge – Understanding of sounds for letters and common letter patterns, and the ability to apply this knowledge to read unfamiliar words
- Fluency – Accuracy and speed of reading
- Vocabulary – Development of individual word knowledge
- Comprehension – Ability to understand and verbally express what has been read or said
Class sizes will be small (2 – 3 per session), which will maximize the ability of the Educational Therapist to work one-on-one with your child, as well as with the group.
Summer Program Details
Our Educational Therapists have designed a therapeutic reading program for children in grades 1-4.
The assessment process determines the child’s weak areas and through myriad fun and creative activities, the neurological processes that build a strong foundation for fluent reading are addressed. An individualized plan will be created and delivered one-on-one or in small groups, and scheduled as daily intervention or as needed, depending on the child’s needs. Children who have struggled with reading begin to enjoy positive
reading experiences as their neurological processes are strengthened and foundational skills are acquired.
